TreePeople is currently seeking a Project Manager who will be responsible for a wide range of activities associated with the identification, planning and implementation of community-led urban greening projects, including green streets, schools, parks and residential landscapes. ?Job duties center on management of contractors and coordination with public agencies as well as community outreach and coalition building.

Most immediately, the Project Manager will be chiefly responsible for oversight of a community-driven planning project within Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage and contribute to community-led planning, design and construction of park and urban greening projects, such as green streets, schools, parks and residential landscapes.
  2. Support contractor selection, such as landscape architects, engineers and other consultants.
  3. Manage contractors as needed to meet project deliverables.
  4. Develop and manage complex project budgets.
  5. Develop a presence in the community by building trust, buy-in and cooperation with community entities, such as community-based groups, elected officials, faith based organizations, schools and others.
  6. Coordinate culturally relevant community organizing activities, including community workshops, with public partners and contractors to collect authentic, meaningful, relevant, and actionable community and stakeholder input.
  7. Review and organize community input and data collected to inform project development.
  8. Coordinate and facilitate one-on-one meetings with public agencies, community stakeholders and contractors as needed.
  9. Build consensus between agencies and community stakeholders.
  10. Review iterations of planning documents for thoroughness, soundness of recommendations, and compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
  11. Support preparation of project progress reports to agencies and funders.
  12. Participate in and help to lead volunteer restoration events and activities, such as removal of invasive species, native seed collection and planting of native vegetation.
  13. Participate in identification and evaluation of new projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience; a Landscape Architectural, Urban Planning or similar degree is a plus.
  2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in project management, urban planning, landscape design, construction management or similar work.
  3. A passion for TreePeople’s mission and a passion for social and environmental justice are essential.
  4. Strong oral, written and graphic communication skills.
  5. Experience in hiring and managing design professionals and construction contractors.
  6. Experience working for or with community based organizations and public agencies.
  7. Experience planning and facilitating community workshops.
  8. Ability to manage complex projects from start to finish with a low level of supervision.
  9. Ability to collaborate and function well as a team member.
  10. Self-starter, determined, and independent worker.
  11. Ability to multi-task, meet schedules, and achieve long term goals.
  12. Project budgeting experience.
  13. Experience in working with underserved communities and an interest in park equity.
  14. Experience working with community members, collaborating and negotiating with diverse groups and interests.
  15. Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  1. Understanding of communities and stakeholders adjacent to Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area.
  2. Familiarity with urban planning and landscape architecture principles.
  3. Local candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
  4. Spanish skills strongly preferred, other foreign language skills a plus.
  5. Non-profit experience is desirable.
  6. Strong computer skills required. Familiarity with Adobe CS, GIS or AutoCAD a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires standing, walking, driving, as well as the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and participate in occasional ecological restoration landscaping activities, such as invasive species removal, digging and planting.

We inspire, engage and support the community to increase the urban tree canopy and address climate threats and environmental justice in Los Angeles and across the region.

We are seeking a Systems Administrator that specializes in the Salesforce platform to join our I.T. team. In this position, you will work closely with management, staff, and subject matter experts to support day-to-day configuration, maintenance, and improvement of our Salesforce platform and related integrations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as primary administrator for our Salesforce.com NPSP environment with 60+ users, as well as other Salesforce-integrated software
  • Handle all basic administrative functions including user account maintenance, reports and dashboards, workflows, duplicate management, and other routine tasks
  • Manage the integration of third-party software / systems into Salesforce (ex: finance software connectors, Conga, Pardot, Volunteers app, FormAssembly, company website, etc.)
  • Complete regular internal system audits and prepare for upgrades
  • Coordinate the evaluation, scope, and completion of new development requests
  • Work with our leadership team to establish suitable processes to support administrative, development, and management activities
  • Assist in the training of new users, create documentation for departmental processes, and grow the Salesforce.com skill set across the organization
  • Effectively act as the liaison between our users, vendors, and related application development teams
  • Troubleshoot and work with end-users to ensure the applications meet their needs and keeps pace with changes in the organization
  • Lead the identification and implementation of new Salesforce features and functionality to increase adoption and automation
  • Work independently with members of the user community to define and document development requirements
  • Manage daily support and maintenance of internal Salesforce instance, and conduct long-term improvement operations to ensure compatibility with evolving mission requirements
  • Aggressively work to provide solutions to challenges as they arise
  • Other duties to support the I.T. department, as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in Salesforce Administration and hands-on I.T. end-user troubleshooting experience
  • Certified Salesforce Administrator credential required
  • At least 5 years of I.T. experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Customer-centric approach – not all users are technology experts
  • Excellent troubleshooting and resolution skills
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce.com best practices, functionality, and configuration
  • Ability to design and implement new processes and determine best Salesforce automation tools

We are seeking a Staff Accountant who a team player and familiar with the non-profit industry to join our Finance team. This position will be responsible for supporting the department by performing day-to-day and month to month accounting functions.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Review and post adjustments to AP/AR
  • Ensure proper accounts coding in Bill.com and SAGE and remitting timely payments to vendors.
  • Daily reconciliations of payments and accounts.
  • Assist Accounting team with day-to-day functions
  • Ensure accuracy of entries to ledger accounts
  • Assist in the processing of standard routine journal entries
  • Update of standard routine financial supporting schedules
  • Reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger
  • Ensure financial transactions are properly recorded
  • Assist in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations
  • Complies financial data to aid in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports
  • Managing paper and electronic files and data management of finance department records
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2+ years of accounting work experience in a nonprofit environment preferred
  • Proficient in using QuickBooks, Bill.com, SAGE and MS Office (Excel)
  • General knowledge of US GAAP, accounting policies, procedures.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a detail-oriented problem solver.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Adherence to deadlines while communicating and coordinating with Leadership and Vendors
  • Open minded and fast learner
  • Excellent communication and writing skills

Internship: Graphic Design, Marketing Communications Team

Opportunity

TreePeople’s Marketing and Communications team is looking for an individual who is seeking hands on experience to increase their knowledge in Marketing and Communications. This individual would assist our Graphic designer with various projects such as flyers, social media, website, signage, etc.?? Note this is a remote, unpaid internship, ideal for students seeking educational credits.

Internship Tasks

  • Work under the direction of TreePeople’s in-house Graphic Designer
  • Assist with cross-departmental design needs including projects with Community, Education, Policy & Research, Development, and Forestry teams
  • Implement TreePeople’s style guide across a wide variety of digital and print assets, including but not limited to: promotional flyers, social media graphics, illustrations, presentation decks, posters and infographics, direct mail campaigns, website graphics, signage and wayfinding, toolkits and downloadable content, video animation, logos and identities, and more.
  • Additional tasks may include assisting with various projects from the Marketing Communications team, including creating organizational systems for graphic design assets and libraries, and assisting with email marketing campaign layout

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Communications, or similar field
  • Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, in particular Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Solid understanding of the elements of design, including typography, composition, hierarchy, balance, color theory, scale, texture, negative space, and gestalt/harmony
  • Basic knowledge of style guides: usage, implementation, adherence to
  • Interest and understanding of environmental advocacy, justice, and stewardship
  • Illustration skills desired
  • Experience/interest in After Effects and Premiere a plus
  • Knowledge of Canva, TikTok, social media strategies, video making, Pardot/Mailchimp a plus
  • Passion for nonprofit work
